I’m Dr Melané van Zyl, a psychiatrist with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), a Master of Medicine (MMed Psych) and a Fellowship of the College of Psychiatrists (FC Psych).

With psychiatry and mental health problems slowly being freed from stigmatisation, I expanded my clinical knowledge beyond psychiatric treatments to provide a range of Psychotherapies and mindfulness based interventions, including MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy).
Ancient mental health wisdom for a modern age
Although the wisdom is ancient, the mental wellness movement is still young enough that we can learn from its greatest teachers.

I have huge respect for the clients and professionals I work with and adhere to the strict guidelines of governing bodies I operate under: the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), the South African Society of Psychiatrists (SASOP), the Jungian Association of South Africa (SAAJA), and my funding partners (Medical Aids).
